  • Digital filter bubbles intensify conflict

  • Non-stop news sources conflate narrow narratives with context

  • Social media’s speed exacerbates discord and disagreements

  • While every person may have access to a digital platform, all voices are not created, or shared, equally

  • Historical context is skewed to represent majority perspectives

  • Underrepresented groups’ roles are regularly overlooked/underreported

We also believe there are journalistically sound ways to address them :

  • Harness power of digital media with intention: audio plus still images shared across existing media platforms

  • Create ethically curated narratives that offer engaging content and critical context

  • Combine photography, audio and data visualizations to integrate underrepresented groups/unheard voices into existing/new narratives

  • Build multimedia content that captures history by focusing on women/minorities with stories that show the complexity of our nation
