MIDDIE PRIDE
this place is home

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH:
I grew up in the Rosa Parks area. I'm a chef by trade, and I chose to cook for the last event at the Middletown Connect meeting because I needed to get some of that out of my system. This place is home to me—it really hits home. I was gone for a long time, and when COVID hit, I decided it was time to come back home and leave some footprints here before I leave.
It’s a lot about what we’re doing with Middletown Talks and our own organization, The Blueprint, where we’re pulling together as a community to give Middletown what it needs. I love this place, and I want to see good things for it. So just thinking about everybody coming together to make positive things happen for Middletown really does something for me.
The community garden is part of what we’re doing with The Blueprint. It’s more than just growing some vegetables—we’re trying to teach sustainable practices. You won’t be hungry if you know how to feed yourself.
