ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH:

“We took the picture after we beat this other team that, I ain’t gonna lie, we didn’t like—because they used to beat us last year. So we finally beat them this year. I felt unstoppable. We all know each other outside of basketball, so it’s really more than basketball, to be honest. I love to play basketball and stuff. I always come to the church after school to check on Coach Ryan, see Miss Kim and everybody. I mean, I just feel like they’re trying to change the community, trying to bring everybody together. I hope I go to the G League or go overseas or something—try to do that. But I’ve got other plans too. Like, if basketball doesn’t work out—and I want it to work out—the first person I’d probably come to is Coach Rock, to see whatever I could do to help the kids or whatever else.”
