Home. Like it was generational, whether it was a good thing or a bad thing. Family-oriented. Before drugs, it was wonderful. We was lower class, and it felt like you didn't know that you was. I didn't know we was poor, because everybody was like a family. Like, neighbors can check kids. They watched. Like, it was a true village; violence and drugs took that away from my downtown. I lived in Laurel Homes, 1526 Linn Street. It was wonderful. It was protective.
