Coach Robin Morton

I'm Coach Morton. My real name is Robin Morton. I've been living in the West End for twelve years. I'm originally from Lexington, but I always had family in Cincinnati. I am the PE and health teacher [at Taft High School]. I'm the head track coach, and I help out with girls basketball.

When I got the job as the track coach, we weren’t that good. Withrow was running things; we barely had enough girls to have a relay. Because I was the assistant first and then I became the head. And like we built our program in the old stadium. So when the new stadium came, we were homeless for a year. We were practicing at Woodward; we were practicing at Walnut. Like, we didn't have that energy because they took our field, they took our momentum. And then, there was all these promises that we're going to get this new field, and the promises of the new field, and we're going to get a better facility, and we're going to have long jump and high jump, and new sand and the shot put area—and all of it came true. And that like really motivated us. We got the best track in the city. It's the newest. And I think that they energized us into propelling our track program forward. Ever since— we've had the person at state every year since we've been at the new stadium. So we're doing fairly well. Better. We're not where we could be, but we're far, far better than what we were.
