MIDDIE PRIDE

People genuinely care

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH:

I live in the historic South Main District. This picture includes me, and it shows the old South Park sign on Main Street. This corner has lots of daylilies, American flags, and I think those are petunias. There’s also a cement monument that relates to the park. Apparently, at one point in time, there was a school there. Now, it has been completely transformed into a children’s park.

Middie Pride is about communities coming together to beautify the parks and keep their yards neat and tidy. People take pride in having downtown events that include all of Middletown. The strength of Middie Pride comes from people who genuinely care about their city and do what they can to make it a better place to live.

I love the parks in Middletown—especially South Main and the old South Park, which I have in this photo. It brings nature into the city. I truly believe that spending time outdoors, breathing fresh air, listening to birds sing, and seeing everything in bloom is beneficial to everyone. Maintaining Middletown is a part of that pride.
