PEOPLE POWER

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH:

“This picture represents what used to be a vision in our East Westwood community. Here at Third Presbyterian Church we envisioned having a community garden. So what happened was, there was a home we purchased, and we were able to tear the home down and we smoothed the land out. We started off with a just all land, and we built nine bed gardens, and in this community garden, we are able to grow our own vegetables. We wanted it to open up in 2017. But we didn't really get started until like 2018, and in the few years that we've been gardening, we've been able to build relationships with our community, with neighbors. They come out as each one of us come out. We meet each other on the weekends or when we are off work. And we collectively maintain the garden by weeding and watering the garden.”
