The West End

Antonio Curry

I was raised in the West End, and my grandmother stayed at 1808 Baymiller [St.]. As a kid, I used to come to the Findlay Street Neighborhood Houses and play day to day, all day. I used to see it from across the street from my grandma porch. So when it was time for us to get up and come outside, we run to the Findlay Street Neighborhood House. And we know as soon as we got in here, it was a ball sitting in the gym on the floor and we was ready to shoot.

Mr. Nate used to work and ended up being a facilitator here. He used to run the gym and he used to open gym and he finally got us basketball.

I feel like the West End is full of kids and teens, and it's full of growth; and I just feel like it needs more activity, more interaction with the neighborhood before everybody loses control. If you want a shopping center, you got to bring it it in. If you want some fun, you got to bring it in.
