The West End

Edward Johnson

My name is Edward Johnson. I’m from Stanley Rowe Towers. I’ve been there since I was seven. [I] went to Heberle, then I went to Bloom [Junior High] and graduated. And I actually attended Taft and graduated from all three schools from down here. I liked it and we had basketball teams. I played basketball for the Findlay Street Neighborhood Houses for over six years. I had MVP.

We had the Regal [Theater] show down there; they had sleepovers. You could watch movies all night, like karate movies and stuff like that. And they had the best hot dogs in the world that I ever tasted. And it was a great place growing up; I grew up living my life down here. I'm 44 now, so I got a lot of experience down here. I like it.
