JULIA O’NEAL

When I moved, I came from Eller Street — that used to be a place in the West End. Then we moved up to Lincoln Courts. I went to St. Joseph, graduated from Taft, and also attended UC for a while. I was involved in many community programs in the West End, including working at the library. There was also a time when I helped out at the church, collecting baskets and preparing things for the homeless people in the community and those connected to the church.

My biggest memory of the West End is that I always remembered how everyone was so concerned about the people who lived there.

The best thing about this area is that we have a lot of positive history. There is so much background here that needs to be passed on to the next generation, because we are a people of legend and vision.
