“I've been living here for 20-plus years. I've been around for a long time. This photo means a lot to me and my life because it shows the growth in this neighborhood—where we came from. We've come a long way.

My people power, I’ve learned, is maybe me being a leader in the neighborhood—leading by example.

I just learned... I mean, people say that I'm a leader, first, because I see things. I see things and I tend to say, ‘Okay, that's a bad thing, let me go a different way.’ And in this neighborhood, I tell the kids, ‘Stay away from bad things. Try to stay on the right path.’”
