I've been a member of the West End for the last 85 years. I'm still in the West End. I was born and raised down in the bottoms on Sixth Street in the West End. That’s where I got all my fire.

This was the first office we ever had in Laurel Homes. I was president of the council. We accomplished everything—like the laundromat and everything else we had—that the Housing Authority helped us get.
